Description
- The Company has been formed to support and develop organisations working to tackle poverty and promote social and environmental justice for disadvantaged communities in Scotland and throughout the world. 3.1 To prevent and relieve poverty, advance education and advance health, and to provide for the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. 3.2 To advance community development, in Scotland and throughout the world, by supporting and developing charities and civic organisations to become more effective and efficient in their work to tackle poverty, promote social and environmental justice for disadvantaged communities. 3.3 To advance citizenship to help organisations and individuals contribute to the achievement of social and environmental justice in disadvantaged communities in Scotland and throughout the world. 3.4 To advance community development, including urban or rural regeneration, following principles of sustainable development, where 'sustainable development' means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. 3.5 To advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, and conservation of the natural environment, the promotion of sustainable development, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the community. 3.6 To advance human rights, conflict resolution and reconciliation and promote equality and diversity, religious and racial harmony 3.7 To improve the conditions of life of disadvantaged people through promotion and provision of recreation and advancement of the arts and culture.
