Description
The Company's objects are as follows: 3.1 To promote the advancement of the Christian religion in Scotland. 3.2 To manage, maintain and restore lona Cathedral and its ancillary buildings including the Nunnery and all other properties in the Island of lona belonging, from time to time, to the lona Cathedral Trust established by Deed of Trust by George Douglas Glassel Campbell, Duke of Argyll, Marquis of Kintyre and lorne and dated 22nd September 1889 ('the lona Cathedral Trust') and to enter into a Management Contract with the Trustees of the lona Cathedral Trust for the aforementioned purposes. 3.3 To promote public interest in and knowledge and appreciation of lona Cathedral. 3.4 To promote public interest in and knowledge and appreciation of the Island of lona. 3.5 To preserve, protect and improve the amenities of lona Cathedral and its ancillary buildings and any other property from time to time in possession of or managed by the Company. 3.6 To facilitate and encourage research into natural history, horticulture, agriculture, forestry and allied sciences on lona and to make the results of such research in so far as practicable available for public study. 3.7 To facilitate and encourage the use and occupation of the whole or part of lona Cathedral and its ancillary buildings for the advancement of the Christian religion and education and learning.
