Description

2.1 To advance public participation in sport by establishing and maintaining a football league that provides opportunities for recovery from mental ill-health. 2.2 To relieve the need of and enhance the lives of people who suffer from mental ill health, through the game of football, whilst also supporting their recovery and tackling stigma associated with mental ill-health. In furtherance of the purpose the SCIO shall seek to: 2.2.1 Support the recovery of people who have lived experience of mental ill-health through football activities whilst improving their physical and mental wellbeing. 2.2.2 Empower players who have lived experience of experience of mental ill-health to make informed and positive choices about their participation in a team sporting activity. 2.2.3 Ensure clubs and players are signposted to appropriate advice and support as required at the right time to help their recovery. 2.2.4 Enable all clubs and players to fully participate in league activities thus, increasing awareness of the challenges faced by those with lived experience of mental ill-health and tackling any associated stigma. 2.2.5 Strengthen and extend the network of contacts, clubs and development groups throughout Scotland.
