4 The SCIO aims to advance education, community development, culture and understanding of heritage as well as providing recreational activities to improve the conditions of life of the residents of, and visitors to, the town of Cupar, Fife (as defined by the boundaries of the area served by Cupar Community Council), the area of the Scottish Parliamentary constituency of North East Fife, and Scotland. 4.1 These charitable purposes shall be achieved both by the SCIO itself and by partnerships with, or the funding of, other local organisations by the following means and activities: 4.1.1 encouraging an interest in history, with particular emphasis on the history of Cupar and the surrounding area, 4.1.2 educating and informing members of the SCIO and the public of all ages on, and encouraging and facilitating research into, the understanding of the cultural heritage of the area. 4.1.3 preserving and conserving the heritage of the area, promoting the understanding and interpretation, within the national and local context, of the historical and cultural heritage of Cupar and the surrounding area. 4.1.4 promoting and encouraging festivals and other activities celebrating the history and heritage of Cupar and its surrounding area including theatrical and musical performances. 4.1.5 promoting and advancing heritage in Cupar and the surrounding area to be a source of pride to those living there.
