Description
7.1 The SCIO will promote, advance and further charitable purposes by taking a flexible and innovative approach to provision of mental health support services in the community. The SCIO will work to bring psychological support within everyone's reach, using creative therapies to improve mental health and emotional wellbeing within community settings. Working collaboratively with experienced clinic psychologists, other charities, local authority health, education and social work departments and voluntary community organisations the SCIO will utilise skills and knowledge of such collaborations to improve provision of mental health support in the community. In doing so, the SCIO will seek alternative, flexible and sustainable methods of alleviating psychological distress, openly collaborate with others to enhance inclusion, build on resilience and strength and reduce social isolation, and advance the use of proactive, preventative and early intervention approaches to improving mental health. These practices will allow the SCIO to reach out to communities across Scotland (and further afield) to strive for a better future for mental health. 7.2 For the purposes of the 2005 Act the following charitable purposes are (i) particularly relevant and (ii) are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act:- 7.2.1 The advancement of health. and 7.2.2 The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. For the purposes of the Taxes Acts the provisions set out in clauses 7.1 and 7.2 shall be read together to ensure the charitable purposes of the SCIO are compliant with the Taxes Acts.
