Description
The Ultimate Navigation School's purposes are: 4.1 To provide the advancement of education through courses that will be accredited by Ofqual and listed on the National Framework, and suitable therefore for both personal and professional development. where employees can use these as recognized credits in the CPD (Continuous Professional Development) programs, such as operated by Police Scotland and Fire & Rescue Scotland. In addition, members of the public may undertake the courses and through the progression of achieving a qualification at each level, they too can advance their education and competence in navigation skills. This is the first full range of land navigation map & compass, and sat nav training on the national framework available and so enhances both personal and professional education. 4.2 To provide the skills to save lives by learning to prevent navigational errors and to teach attendees how to respond to an incident when hillwalking. Navigational errors are the most common contributory cause of mountain accidents (Scottish Mountaineering Incidents, Research Digest 102, Mountain Rescue Council of Scotland), often being the first link in a chain of events that can lead to a catastrophe. 25% of all Mountain Rescue call outs begin with such a navigation error, therefore by reducing and minimizing these errors, through the training we provide, this will reduce potential rescues required and more importantly save lives.
