Description
To advance the education of the public regarding mental health issues and promote the welfare of anyone affected by mental health issues by the provision of a drop-in centre, and in furtherance thereof the association shall seek - (1) To promote, safeguard and improve the rights of people with mental health difficulties. (2) To promote quality of opportunity and an end to discriminatory practice against people with mental health difficulties. (3) To create opportunities for people with mental health problems to express their views and wishes about services required and those currently being provided. (4) To encourage people with mental health problems to be involved in the planning and consultation processes of statutory bodies and voluntary agencies and, if required, to initiate these processes. (5) To promote and encourage co-operation with and amongst other voluntary bodies and organisations involved whether principally or partially with mental health, and between such bodied and statutory authorities. (6) To identify areas of unmet needs and of inadequate provision in existing services for people with mental health problems and their families and carers, where appropriate, to establish services to meet those needs. and (7) To increase knowledge of resources, services, alternative treatments, rights etc., through publications and an information bank.
