Description
The purpose of the Highland Award Project shall be to promote the aims and objectives of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, hereafter referred to as the DofE, for the benefit of young people in the Highland area, contributing to the advancement of education, citizenship and community development, and to the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the young people for whom the facilities or activities are intended. • To promote and support education in young people through a programme of personal and social development through the learning process, personal commitment and the quality of the experience in being involved with DofE. through a programme of developing practical and social skills and personal interests. • To promote and support citizenship and community involvement in young people through a programme of volunteering, undertaking service to individuals or the community. • To promote and support provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the young people for whom the facilities or activities are intended through a programme to develop their physical activities in the area of sport, dance and fitness, and participation in expedition through planning, training and completion of an adventurous journey.
