Description
The overall aim of the Suicide Awareness & Support Group is; To relieving the need of families bereaved, supporting individuals in times of suicidal crisis, Raising Suicide Awareness, Endeavouring to Create a Suicide Safer Community where Suicide Prevention is Everyones Business. The objects of the Association which will operate in West Belfast and its environs (hereinafter called area of benefit) shall be to: - Work for assistance of persons who are suicidal, despairing or in distress and thus reduce the incidence of suicide by providing or assist in providing support, Information and appropriate services and referral to treatment from professionals to enable such person to receive immediate help, compassion and friendship. - Alleviate distress and offer assistance to people who have suffered loss through suicide by loved ones, in particular the development of support systems within the community. - Promote the fostering of positive mental health and to improve the emotional wellbeing of people residing in the area of benefit. - Advance the education of the public into, and raise awareness of, the causes and effects of suicide and into the matters related to the nature of grieving, bereavement and the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals who attempt suicide.
