Description

The Charity's Objects are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Northern Ireland and surrounding areas (the "area of benefit") without distinction of gender, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, disability, or political, religious or other opinion and in particular to:- (1) Relieve unemployment by: (a) promoting opportunities for employment and work experience amongst those experiencing unemployment or underemployment in the area of benefit; (b) examining the local labour market and assessing skill needs, prospects for increasing local employment and the adequacy of existing training opportunities. (2) Develop the capacity and skills of the members of communities where there is social and economic deprivation in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society. (3) Relieve those in need by assisting in the provision of advice and guidance on matters of social welfare and referral of those in need of specialist support to the relevant agencies. (4) Act as a resource for young people living in the area of benefit by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals and to engage with other communities in the area of benefit. (5) Engage with, promote dialogue and co-operation among and establish relationships and partnerships between groups, organisations and agencies in the community, voluntary and statutory sectors that have an interest in community safety and related issues. (6) Promote the welfare and independence of those with limited mobility by assisting and liaising with mobility charities and medical practitioners.
