Description
The advancement of education, the advancement of religion, the advancement of health and the saving of lives. The purpose of Portadown Temperance Council is to provide and support the education of the general public of the negative impact and dangers to health (physical, mental and spiritual) of alcohol and drugs, with a particular focus on children and youth (although not exclusively), to provide beneficiaries with accurate information through training programmes in schools and youth organisations to assist them in making healthier life choices. Promoting a Christian ethos to the issues surrounding the use of alcohol and drugs, the charity promotes thoughtful consideration of the moral consequences of alcohol and drug abuse and the wider impact on the family, and the community including focus on safety and potential crime prevention. It is the charity's aim to provide education to all sections of the community in Northern Ireland and if possible and appropriate, further afield.
