Description
1 Promote for the public benefit urban and rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation in Portadown and its environs (the "area of benefit") by all or any of the following means: (a) assisting and supporting projects which seek to address low educational attainment; (b) acting as a resource for young people by providing advice and assistance organising programmes of educational and other activities; (c)promoting and supporting social enterprise and sustainable means of achieving job creation and iconic growth. 2 To advance community development and active citizenship by: (a) providing strategic and practical support to community and voluntary groups and organisations in the area of benefit; (b) promoting active citizenship and developing the capacity and skills of the members of society and/or economically disadvantaged communities in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and enable them to participate more fully in society as responsible citizens through participation in decision making processes in any matters which may affect the area of benefit; (c)create a collective voice for the community and voluntary sector and work in partnership with statutory agencies and authorities. 3 Promote social cohesion, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity in the area of benefit.
