Description

The Charity’s objects (“Objects”) are specifically restricted to the following:- To promote for the public benefit the care, welfare, interest and advancement of older people and their independence and social inclusion in Northern Ireland (the “area of benefit”) by any or all of the following means: (a) the prevention or relief of poverty; (b) the advancement of education and the raising of awareness of older people’s rights and entitlements; (c) the advancement of health; (d) the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage; (e) the advancement of community development by supporting, assisting and helping to develop the work of community and voluntary groups and organisations which seek to improve the quality of life of older people in the area of benefit; (f) the promotion of equality and diversity and in particular the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of age by public advocacy and other means of communication ; (g) to develop the capacity of older people to enable them to participate in decisions about their future; (h) to advocate on behalf of, and facilitate self-advocacy and self-representation amongst, older people.
