Description

The objects of the charity are for such charitable purposes for the public benefit as the trustees may in their absolute discretion determine, including without limitation: (a) relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities, including to support those lacking, or with insecure access to, basic necessities of life including food, clean water, shelter and affordable energy; (b) advancement of physical and mental health and the saving of lives, including of refugees and those seeking asylum; (c) conservation, protection, rehabilitation and improvement of the physical and natural environment, including to promote biodiversity and reduce human-wildlife conflict, and to reduce carbon emissions in such a way as to mitigate climate change; (d) advancement of education of the public including (i) in relation to sustainable development, the prudent use of natural resources and the sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration; (ii) in respect of the principles and practice of public scrutiny, governance and accountability, and (ii) education of adults, children and young people who face poverty, or barriers to learning or employment; for the purposes of this article 3, 'sustainable development' means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
