The prevention or relief of poverty and the relief of those in need, hardship or distress, in particular by providing social housing in the form of almshouse accommodation for persons in the following order of preference: · persons in need who are resident in the town of selby for two years preceding appointment;· persons in need who are resident in the district of selby for two years preceding appointment;· persons in need who have at some time resided in the selby district;· persons in need who are close relatives of persons who have been resident in the district of selby for 2 years preceding appointment.2. Subject thereto in the relief either generally or individually of persons resident in selby district who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or facilities calculated to reduce the need, hardship or distress of such persons in such ways as are charitable.
